Me
A former award-winning international journalist, today I drive strategic communications for clients in the legal and anti-corruption fields.
Communications
I head communications and marketing for asset recovery law firm MKS Law, where I recently led a complete rebrand, and was previously communications director and led special projects at HOPE not hate.
Other clients have included the UK government’s Cabinet Office, the Centre for Finance & Security (at defence think tank RUSI), the Centre for Analysis of the Radical Right, the joint liquidators of Stanford International Bank, and NGOs such as Bridge2Aid, Children on the Edge, Health Poverty Action, and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Journalism
As a journalist, I have reported from conflict zones, written from the townships of South Africa, undertaken investigations into gold selling in virtual games, produced longform investigations into Ponzi schemes, and covered the case of the American Taliban (see my legacy site for more).
Digital
An early digital adopter, I was an editor for the Royal Geographical Society’s magazine, Geographical, pioneering its online expansion. I helped launch Yoosk, a new media project that allowed the public to pose direct questions to politicians and public figures. I have gone on to lead brand strategy, managed digital media, and run podcasts for various clients.
Books
I'm the author of a critically-acclaimed exposé of extreme-right movements across the globe, called HOMELAND: Into a World of Hate, described as "reportage of the most illuminating kind" by the Times Literary Supplement, "a tremendous scary exposé" by The Independent, and "a heart of darkness" by the Southern Poverty Law Center.
TV
I was Creative Producer of the BBC One TV drama England Expects, which was inspired by HOMELAND, and have consulted on numerous other TV projects.
